Sunday morning seemed normal until I went out to the porch to check on Nic's pet hamster. I noticed the cage door to be loose and lifted the cloth to find Midnite missing. I feared the worst that the stray cats had somehow managed to force the door open and devoured poor Midnite (pic; look at those eyes).
Yikes! What am I gonna tell Nicole (still asleep upstairs)? I got an idea! Let mom break the bad news. That'll do!
Nic awoke at 9am but did not check on her beloved. Next Ah Fatt and Candy returned from market and asked if Nic knew to which I replied, no.
Mom awoke around 10.30am and gently broke the bad news to her. Nicole gave a blank stare and walked out with me following. She immediately broke into tears and yelled to me, 'I told you to put her inside the house' and started going into denial by searching the area for Midnite.
After a minute we both headed inside and she slowly regained her composure. Nic really loved her hamster and has kept asking for it even up to this morning. Well at least Midnite got a decent last supper the nite before. I fed her a morsel of Missy Donut (thanks for buying Kelly).
