Chinese New Year 2013

We got to enjoy the city this time and glad to avoid the awful crawl on such.the highways. Everyone had fun especially the kids. Nicole spent lots of time with her older cousins at malls and such.

Lunar New Year - The Rabbit

Thursday (Feb. 3) After visiting grandma's we stopped for some Indian food to start the Chinese New Year - how about that! Nic always eats with her hand when it comes to mamak (Mamak is a term used in Malaysia to describe the Indian Tamil Muslim community). Next to Penang.

It's a Holiday

Today is Thaipusam and a holiday. We decided to hang out at 1U seeing we have not taken Nic out for a bit now.

The roads near the mall was surprisingly clear even at noon time and it was a breeze finding a parking space. I guess the crowds were there the previous two days. We were so glad it is unlike the usual weekend mad rush.

Nic was so excited when she heard the "lion dance" drums as we entered the mall. Come to think of it, we have yet to witness one so far. We promised to take her to the show only after lunch but she insisted that the show would be over by then. Smart kid!

As it turned out the troupe was still there and Nic got her dose of not one but four "lions". Shucks, I forgot to bring the camera with me so no pics.

Mum bought a pot for brewing herbs and such at Jusco but apart from that it was the usual play time at the toys section for Nic.

We noticed Dome cafe has closed down or did they relocate to the new wing? Sign of the bad times maybe? We left 1U a little past 3pm and whoa, the car park was now full and more vehicles queueing to get in.

CNY Day One

Nic asked if she had school today and I replied no as today is Chinese New Year. We asked her to shower and wear her new traditional Chinese dress (pic) courtesy of Robert and Irene.

We went over to my mum's place and had lunch. Nic spent the next two hours catching up on her Playhouse Disney channel and eating a lot of dried meat.

The weather was so hot and we were glad that we could snooze in the afternoon and escape the heat.

Reunion Dinner

We had our reunion dinner last night at Aunty Irene's home in Bangsar. She suggested this about a month ago as my mum is finding it difficult to cook for so many people.

We were greeted by Kenneth and little Alyssa (pic). We last saw her during Christmas 2007 when she was just learning to walk. I shook hands with her and asked her how old so was. She answered in Aussie accent, TWO! Well she is two and a half now. Aw, she's so cute.

We sat down for dinner of yummy beef rendang, sweet & sour pork, "juhu char" and soup.
