A Little Bird
Nic and I came across a young sparrow outside a shop this morning and it looked to be in s lot of trouble. I knew from its short tail feathers that it is a juvenile and must have fallen off its nest. It was gasping for breath probably from panic and not to mention the intense heat (we're in the middle of a heat wave). I knew if we didn't intervene it would not make it through the nest couple of hours.
We ran back to the car - luckily I have loads of stuff in the trunk. I scraped together an ice cream box, an old rag cloth, a spoon and water. We dashed back to the shop and caught it and took the little critter home. Guess what? After a couple of hours it started to chirp - sounded like it was calling out to its mother.

No More Stinky Bolster
Nic threw a major tantrum just a while ago so I sent her to bed early (10.30pm is early by her standard). She duly obliged and yelled when she could not find her 'comfort' bolster which was still hanging at the yard from this morning's laundry.
I decided to punish her by telling her I'd thrown it out earlier. And so she went to bed sobbing uncontrollably. I figured this is as good as any time to do away with the awful thing. Incidentally this is her 2nd creation I am discarding. I am sure it won't be long before she recreates yet another 'masterpiece' (see pic). She has this habit of pulling off the cover and twisting one end of the bolster to maximise the sniffability or something, eww. Here's proof for Nic when she denies ever doing such a thing.

Nic's Development
Today Nic got enough confidence to walk without support. She only managed to walk a short four or five steps prior to this before she dived into our arms. But today, Nic is walking!
Speech-wise she is quite a fast learner as she can say up to 25 words or so now. So it won't be long before she learns to make up simple sentences.
She has already outgrown her baby cot as it is too risky to put her in it anymore. She is strong enough (and tall enough) to climb over the guard rail and dive onto our bed. She has already dived onto mommy a couple of times in the still of the night. Boy, did mommy scream or what.
