Our "complimentary" WiFi got zapped on May 2nd. Appears whoever who did not secure their connection must have moved out. I applied for Optical Communication's SentralFon fiber optic internet service which is a mere RM60 monthly with 2Mbps speed (see test result below).
A deposit of 3-months and 1 year commitment is compulsory. No modem required and we get unlimited usage. Telekom's "pay more for less" equivalent (2Mbps download/384kbps upload) which costs a hefty RM188 per month the decision was an easy one. The downside is service is limited mainly to apartments/condos.
We'll try it out for one year and by then I guess the Wimax prices would have come down a lot.
