Skipped School

Nicole had a mild fever when I picked her up from school on Monday evening. It turned for the worse later and her temperature was 39 Celsius on Tuesday morning. She was still very active the whole day but the fever wouldn't go away despite the paracetamol I fed her.

As with fevers, it usually gets worse in the middle of the night and she had to miss school again on Wednesday.

Her temp went down to 38 Celsius around midday but when she awoke from her nap at 4.30 pm it shot up to 39.9 Celsius (almost 104 F). I told her we had to miss Unc' Gatsby's birthday dinner due to her condition but she was reluctant to do so.

There was only one thing to do, I inserted a Voltaren pain-killer via rectal and gave her a cold shower. Within the next half an hour her temp subsided to 38 Celsius and I got her dressed up for the dinner at Legend Hotel (pic, Gatsby & 3 boys).

Nic's appetite was quite good and we all enjoyed a lovely dinner courtesy of Mandy. Nic (below left; with mommy, right; Sammie, looking stunning grrl) is a jovial child and even when she was an infant would smile even when she had a high fever. She is one tough cookie.
