I Read a Book

Those of you who know me will know that reading does not rank very high in my priority list and what few books I do read are purely non-fiction but after uncovering what little info I could about my late father I came across this book - The Fight for Malaya: The Jungle War of Maurice Cotterill

The author Bob Holder wrote the book based solely on the diary of Maurice Cotterill (1905-1980) who came to Malaya to work in a rubber plantation in Pahang and was one of the three British civilians who are known to have gone into the jungle and survived the 1942-45 Japanese Occupation. He avoided capture and linked up with the MPAJA as well as other independent anti-Japanese guerrillas. His was a story of overcoming adversity in dismal conditions and he survived to tell his story.
